"Amazing visionary character, great woman's fiction."
By; A Payne
"Soul Skin, Woman have you had enough? Is a story of a woman named Navi and her daily struggles with life and the ability to see the spirits that surround us all. That is right Navi is a visionary. The kind that sees the spirit world.
Navi is trying to cope with a child’s cancer, a very lonely marital heartbreak. a stifling rural church community with very closed clicky behavior, a scandalous love affair, the loss of her job, and all of this while dealing with menopause and a haunting dark shadow nemesis. As you have probably guessed this book is falls into the genre of women’s fiction or possibly even chick lit.
The character of Navi is compelling and after reading the first few pages of Navi’s marriage problems I ran home to give my own husband a hug and let him know how much he means to me.
Navi’s struggles and emotions are mirrored in all of us, though hopefully to a lesser extent, or at least I hope that none of us are dealing with cancer and shadow nemesis at the same time. Although we have all felt alone, scared, and frustrated. And at times wished we felt a comforting presence of those that we have lost, or maybe that is just me.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who has ever felt alone or like life is just too much to handle, which unless I am very much mistaken has probably been all of us at one time or another.. So I am rating it 4.5 out of 5 stars. Please bear in mind that for me personally there is no such thing as a perfect book. I have never given a perfect score, but I have seriously considered it with this title. Even my favorite titles that I have read again and again only rated a 4 out of 5.
If you are unfamiliar with publishers, then I am here to tell you that CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform is an entirely self publishing system. You can pay extra for them to do some of the work but mostly it is just templates. So the fact that this book looks as good as it does means the author has put a lot of work into this title, and it shows.
I am very glad to see such a good quality indie title. The book looks good and the story and characters are riveting. The characters are rounded and the author knows people. I am glad to have a copy of this book and I would very much like to see it succeed. The world needed great indie authors and I sincerely hope to see more titles come from Jan Porter.
