May 24th; ‘Break Free Party Weekend or Queen Victoria’s Birthday?
When my children became of age to toddle off on there own one May 24 weekend, I wondered what the archaic old gal ‘Victoria’ must think from her ghostly throne, of the transition of her birthday celebration to one of spring blast and partying.
So who was this woman, who has such an hourable day, typically set aside for Deities?
Victoria, birth named; ‘Alexandrina Victoria’ was born into this world on 24 May back in 1819 was the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, and the first Empress of India for a reign of over 63 years. This significant time period in history is otherwise known as the ‘Victorian era’. Nicknamed; ‘the Grandmother of Europe’, her power began an era of profound ‘progress’ in industry, politics, science, and military strategy within the United Kingdom that still has far reaching affects the global community.
Perhaps a toast this May 24th?
Happy Mother’s Day to all!
