So, I almost feel as though I ought to apologise to friends and family, but I won't!
Yes, I've been away from Social Media and my regular social life for the past few months, a hiatus of sorts.
There is just something about northern Ontario winters that makes me want to cocoon and get lost in a good story. It has been said that writer's write stories that they would want to read.
For the time that I acquiesce, shut the world out and allow a Muse to take over, I think, live and breath the story. Much like a dam good movie or dream, I live it, journeying along with the characters. It is an amazing journey, I laugh and I cry with the main characters.
At times, I am cabin fevered, often slovenly and exhausted, yet wonderfully alive and inspired.
I chuckle here, because I figure that I must be awfully boring company for the duration, I am preoccupied, all up in the main characters business. If you find me looking at you oddly, it is because my mind is thinking about story bits or I am contemplating some aspect of you for story bits. So, sorry, but not sorry. :)
So, the first draft is done for "Izzy's Ghosts" and I am thrilled, only a series of edits, and submissions to go.
The gist of the story is: "Middle aged Izzy has been dumped by her ex for his new young boy toy. She finds herself moving away from the city into an old dilapidated rural school house and its spirited inhabitants; 100 years of classroom children and their favourite young philosopher/teacher; "Marjorie".
Evolution of Izzy takes place in a northern ghost mining town, amidst wilderness and a strange little community. There are mysteries unfolding, descendants of Dr. Barnardo's Home Children, Gold Rush Fever, unsanctified baby burial, an infringing neighbour and ghost hunters. The town consists of a general store/liquor store, an abandoned gold mine, an old church and the Rail Stop Cafe. The old school house inception, based on ancient mystery school principles and brotherhood.
Marjorie, Margaret, Reverend Bill and local historian/wilderness Liam befriend Izzy and spirit class begins once again"
I will update on progress as it evolves... whoot!
