'Ode to our ancient sisterhood'
"Help one another, is part of the religion of Sisterhood." Louisa May Alcott
The photo essay was first inspired during the first draft editing process of the first of the 'Soul Skin' novel trilogy, (pending publication).
I had been searching for a photo that offered the essence of a character in the third novel, named Crazy Annie; an ancient indigenous medicine woman, mystic or shaman who had survived the Trail of Tears. A spirit guide and mentor to the main character; Navi, who following menopause comes into her own authentic soul path as shaman, mystic, minister and Sacred Dream Journeyer.
As master musician - songwriter; James Buster Fykes first brought forth the original musical score and sound track, I was in reverent astounding joy, goosebumps. Each time I sit back and listen to the sound track with the accompany photos, I am amazed. This project still reverberates within my soul long after that first draft and I remain humbly honoured and in gratitude to participate in this project.
Incidentally, this is James first musical sore tuned in A432 freguency, proposed to be the ancient harmonics of divine love, miracles and healing.
Profound gratitude to the women in the photos: Your spirit, love, inspiration and untold journey lives on within all of us.
The love and wisdom of our Mothers and Grandmothers, both ancient and those yet to come, makes who we are and shows us the heart soul path.
"She takes my hand and leads me along paths I would not have dared explore alone."
Maya V. Patel
Enjoy and blessings on your journey!
